Hi everyone! Ken here. How was your Holy Week break? I still have a huge backlog of entries to post here, so while you wait, here’s an adventure from a few weeks back. 🙂
[February 20, 2016]
This one is short but sweet.
I went to SM Megamall in search of a smaller French press I can use for myself because pro tip: If you’re only going to brew 1-2 cups of coffee in an 8-cup press, the filter won’t even be able reach the coffee to apply the filtering.
After an unsuccessful search, I ended up finding this place.
Color me surprised. It’s Satchmi!
4th Floor, SM Megamall Bldg-D Fashion Mall, EDSA Cor Julia Vargas Ave, Mandaluyong, 1550 Metro Manila
At first, I thought Satchmi was just a vinyl store since just about every corner of the place is filled with records and the players that they sell.
The tables are styled with old notebooks and rusty camera paraphernalia that can bee seen from the outside. They’re certainly going for the rustic touch here.
Their beans are also sourced from EDSA Beverage Design Group. I swear, those guys are everywhere! So I ordered a drink I haven’t tried using their beans before — cappuccino! Which is what I always order anyway, but what the heck. 🙂
They served me the drink using a glass instead of the usual cappuccino mug. I find this interesting, since one can see the layer of milk foam and espresso/milk mix. Most curious! The drink itself was delicious, as expected of beans from EDSA BDG. The barista told me that they’re using of of the darker blends, which explains the deep body I’ve tasted in every sip. And it’s warm! Just the way I like it.
So there you have it! If you want to spend some time listening to some vinyl music while drinking some good brews, or are looking for a place to buy old-school music equipment, then Satchmi is the way to go.
Happy Hunting! 🙂
